A friend of mine recently attended a writers workshop geared toward a group of writers sharing their work and having others critique it.
Well, one writer in particular was the J.K. Rowling second coming. Credentials? she had lists longer than her arm. Agents? They’re fighting over her. Publishing deals? Oh, which one to take? Random House or Simon and Schuster?
Meanwhile, the other writers are discussing their works and trying to learn from the other. All this particular person can do is give a rapid fire regurgitation of her resume.
She may very well have accomplished her goals and dreams. I think her next goal should be learning what the word graciousness means.
Me? I’m still following my bliss. And, sometimes, I think that is more valuable than any credential or deal.
