*This has absolutely nothing to do with writing or books. I just want to boo-hoo about The Ravens losing a star player.
So apparently Jamal Lewis is going from the Baltimore Ravens to the Cleveland Browns. The roster for last season’s line-up was great, and the Ravens were *this close* to making it to the Super Bowl (not to worry, there’s always next season). I started watching football a few years ago, and while I’m no die-hard sports fan, I do enjoy a good sports game now and then. And the Ravens are among the best, whether or not they make it to the playoffs or the Super Bowl in any given season.
The Browns are one of the biggest rivals of the Ravens and it just doesn’t sit well that they’re getting one of the team’s best. Why couldn’t they take Kyle Bowler? He’s not the worst player in the league, but, well… if you watch football you know what I’m talking about. He could at least learn to take a hit rather than dropping the ball and protecting his face. He’s a football player, not a model. Bowler seems like a nice guy, but it also seems to me that he could be a better quarterback. It’s just a game, but if you’re going to play, play well. I think he could do better.
Back to Jamal Lewis. So with his apparent move to the Browns, that means that the Ravens will be up against his force as a player. As I understand it, by most accounts he’s one of the core players that make the Ravens such a powerhouse team. I don’t know the ins-and-outs of player salaries and what not, but it’s a shame to lose a good player. Now the Ravens are just going to have to wipe the field with the Browns even more, for good measure! 🙂
That’s my take on it. We’ll just have to wait until next season to see how it goes.
*Okay, one writing reference–The Ravens are named after, what else, the poem The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe. 🙂
